The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is charged with preventing deception and unfairness in the marketplace. FTC has the power to bring law enforcement actions against false or misleading claims that a product is of U.S. origin. To be called Made in USA, the product must be "all or virtually all" made in the U.S.: all significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of U.S. origin, the product should contain no — or negligible — foreign content.
For sharpeners, "Made in USA" is applicable to standard uncustomized versions. The stone bundles and the accessories included in customized versions may have another country of origin.
